Whopper Freakout

| December 23rd, 2007

UPDATE: think it isn’t as good as it seems as Graham pointed out.

OK, quick one for Christmas. A gift from me to you.

Latest from Burger King - a great idea executed well that uses its own customers to deliver the desired message. A lot better than “I’m Lovin. it”. You simply cannot simulate brand passion like that.

Going mainly analogue

| December 21st, 2007

Not that I’ve been that acvtive on the blog over the last few weeks (I’ve been here and here mainly) but this is a quick one to sign out for Christmas. I’ll be back online properly on 4th January (woo hoo!) and if anything, will be Twittering in the meantime. (Follow me here). Spending Christmas in Leicestershire and in-between/New Year up north in a little village deep in the Northumbrian countryside with my family.

Next year, lots of exciting things ahead. Can’t wait. But just for the next couple of weeks, I fancy going analogue with just a small side portion of digital. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you.

Well said Faris. I’m just a little bit biased but there we go. Go here for a truly awesome round up of what happened this year from the nice people over at Contagious magazine.

This is super cool. Still very early days but it’s pretty amazing you can now stream to the world right from your mobile phone. Scoble is all over it and have a feeling that this is the absolute tip of the iceberg.

UPDATE - don’t think the embed code works, have tried a few times.

Here’s a list of the top 10 virals of 2007 according to boreme.com. Note - not a brand in sight . . .

Still here

| December 17th, 2007

So, another load of time flies by and I don’t post anything. I don’t think I’m one of those bloggers that naturally likes to write a lot about something and offer up my opinion. Maybe if I had more time I would be but right now I’m not and don’t seem to be able to even if I want to. Instead, I’ve been on Twitter a whole lot more recently and also enjoying Facebook as more and more people emerge from the shadows and get really enaged with it (Disclaimer - I work with Facebook).

Anyway, here’s Kitty Wigs which Ged sent me (via Twitter, which is down for planned maintenance at the moment and I’m really mising it). My favourite is Pink Passion (pictured below). I just couldn’t face another Monday with no new stuff.

More to come this week as I’ve got lots to share - Le Web, amazing customer service, awful customer service, being human on the web and a whole load more stuff that I don’t know about.

Normal service to resume shortly.

McDonalds ads on report cards

| December 6th, 2007

This is feels very wrong and drew a gasp from Charlotte (she teaches 5 year olds).

This looks really interesting. I’m right in the middle of lots of stuff right now so have only had a quick poke around. First stab at the holy grail . . . how to rate and rank people’s digital presences

qdos.jpg

“Be seen how you want to be seen
Up until now there has been no way to measure digital presence, to see where you fit in to the online world. At Garlik, we’ve analysed the digital profiles of the nation and have made available a QDOS score for every UK adult . Your QDOS score is made up of 4 different components:
Popularity
Who you know and the extent of your online network.
Impact
How much people listen to what you say online.
Activity
What you do online e.g. shop, chat, blog.
Individuality
How easy you are to find online according to your name, your age etc
Put simply, the more you are out there surfing, buying, selling and socialising online, the higher your QDOS score.
To find your QDOS simply enter your name and postcode in to the site - it’s as simple as that. Once you’ve found your QDOS you can also claim it, and from there you can tell us a little more about you that will help us refine your QDOS score and make it even more reflective of you. Your QDOS will also change over time according to what you do online. Take control of your online status with QDOS.”

Chuffed today. Using the modem script here and some instructions here, I really easily set up my MacBook to use my T Mobile MDA Vario II via bluetooth to surf the web over 3G. It’s actually quite fast and a whole lot better than last time I did it using GPRS. Bring it on.

ESPN Score Center

| December 4th, 2007

Branded utility from ESPN coming in 2008. Like it. Give people stuff they want because it’s useful.

[UPDATED - I’d called it the wrong name in the title. Doh.]
