One TENORI-ON left
| September 25th, 2007There is one Tenori-On left at BM Soho. Call 0207 439 2403 and ask for Hilit if you want it. £60 deposit, £539.99 on collection. I’d emailed in to enquire about availability and Hilit kindly reserved me one. But I don’t have £600 to splurge right now on amazing looking music gadgetry. Go on. You know you want it!
Check out the official site here if you’re thinking WTF (or watch th video below).
Square Leg Dance GIF
| September 11th, 2007Don’t worry - I’m not just going to post GIFs every few days . . . But - here’s one my mate Tom created to go into the best man speech at my wedding, basically taking the mickey out of my dancing skills. Anyway, I thought it was cool and I’m glad a GIF made an extra special appearance on the day (as well as a reference to my love of the Mac).
PS - was a lot younger when the headshot was taken . . .

BBC iPlayer
| July 27th, 2007As I’m sure loads of people did yesterday, I was invited to take part in the beta test for the BBC iPlayer which launched today. All very nice but it doesn’t work on a Mac. I think it’s bit rubbish not to release a Mac version at launch, especially as it’s called iPlayer! I’m sure there’s lots of reasons why and the BBC has said that it is aiming to provide for Mac and Vista users in future versions (see cut and paste below), but even so - I feel a bit left out in the cold, especially after being invited to take part.
“To take part, you must have access to a PC with broadband at home. It must be a PC running Windows XP. The technology is not currently compatible with an Apple Macintosh or Windows Vista - although we are aiming to provide for these in future versions.”
Disclaimer - I work with Apple and have done so for the past 3 years.
Blackle
| July 25th, 2007Looks as though this launched a while back, but just been sent it and thought I’d share just in case you hadn’t seen it. Nice idea. We are becoming more accountable for every single aspect of our lives. Displaying white pixels joins the list.
“When your screen is white – Eg; an empty word page, or the Google page, your computer consumes 74 watts, and when it’s black it consumes only 59 watts. Mark Ontkush wrote an article about the energy saving that would be achieved if Google had a black screen, taking in account the huge number of page views, according to his calculations, 750 mega watts/hour per year would be saved. In a response to this article Google created a black version of its search engine, called Blackle, with the exact same functions as the white version, but with lower energy consumption”

E3 Wii
| July 22nd, 2007Bit late posting this - just catching up on my RSS. But check out this great interview with Shigeru Miyamoto as featured on the Wired Game|Life blog. Still loving the Wii and still don’t think there’s been enough noise about how amazing it is to watch streaming flash video on.
Now I just need to complete Zelda.
Internet Radio - Day of Silence
| June 26th, 2007So, tried logging onto Pandora just now and there it is - today is the Internet Radio Day of Silence.
Not sure what to say really, other than hope that everyone sorts it out and comes to a decision that both rewards artists and helps internet radio survive. I’ve really rather got used to being able to turn on Pandora at the flick of a switch . . .

Why are CD’s 12cm in size?
| June 22nd, 2007Nice story about the history behind the CD, shared with me by Jess. Always nice to have little human touches behind big “technological” things.
